GM analog OnStar going dead

onstar This January 1, 2008, if your GM vehicle was equipped with analog-only OnStar system (accessing Verizon’s old and non-digital network), you will no longer have access to your service as Verizon is shutting off its analog system. Federal Communications Commission ruled all the way back in 2002 that analog network is no longer required starting 2008…

Some GM vehicles may be upgraded to digital equipment (to check if your auto is eligible, visit this site). So if your car model is before 2006, make sure you check out the FAQs as the helpful button may not function next time you need emergency services.

Anti-DUI ads in Xbox 360 games

saferscotland The government of Scotland is set to spend £10,000 in virtual ads in Xbox 360 games such as Need for Speed: Carbon, Project Gotham Racing 4 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. Its goal is to bring this safety message to young drivers, and what’s a better place than driving video games, and uber-popular football games.

Especially given that fact that more than 70% of 15 to 24 year olds have a video game console in their home, this is a perfect opportunity to reach those who may shun traditional media such as television, and ignore all billboards.
