Mobile Fridge

Auto industry is one of those where competition is fierce, and many companies try desperately to win market share. That’s probably why everyone is throwing gadgets at the problem of winning consumers (such as iPod integration, navigation system, powerful audio systems, Bluetooth…), but the latest innovation from Dalmer-Chrysler: mobile refrigerator!

1. Dodge Caliber
The first car to spot this feature was the 2007 Dodge Caliber (which is their entry-level car): instead of a full size glove compartment, it has a slot for four 20-oz bottles or cans. They call it the “Chill Zone”, which is appropriate since the compartment is chilled by the car’s air conditionning system. Having a mobile refrigerator is a great idea, I’m not even sure why it took so long to figure it out! However, Caliber is a small-size entry hatchback so this feature won’t be enjoyed by too many people…

2. Land Rover Range Rover Sport
To the other end of the spectrum we go! From the entry-level hatchback to luxury SUV from Land Rover… The 2006 Range Rover Sport features an optional cooler in the center armrest that can, apparently, chill a Coke in 31 minutes.

3. Chrysler Sebring
The company behind the Caliber is bringing another level of innovation with the 2007 Sebring: not just a cooler but a heater as well! One of the cupholders can either cool or heat your drink in their new family sedan, which a lot of commuters will appreciate.
