My parents have been shopping around for a new car for awhile now and I’ve been trying to influence them to get a hybrid: save the environment while saving (slightly) on gas costs. But so far, most of the contenders in this hybrid game are inadequate for many reasons.
First, the 2007 Camry Hybrid is ok, but the exterior and interior styling is very off-putting or downright ugly, and its smaller bro Prius isn’t big enough to serve as a main car (same issue with Civic hybrid). Honda’s Accord isn’t a traditional hybrid since it puts a V6 engine as well as an electric engine (just like the Lexus GS450h which I slightly desire!) to obtain more horses instead of more MPGs.

Now Nissan’s popular Altima becomes a hybrid for 2007 model. Featuring new stylings both inside and outside, it’s supposed to do 41 mpg city and 36 mpg highway so it is indeed a regular hybrid. The question remains if it can match the performance of Toyota’s system or its low price…
