T-Mobile Dash

As some of you know already, I’ve had my current phone (Samsung D500) for a fairly long time… and in the meantime they’ve managed to release 2 successors already: the D600 and D900. I was intent on purchasing the D900 until I was discouraged since it’s basically the same thing, just slightly upgraded.

T-Mobile DashAfter that, I’ve decided to upgrade my phone and make it smart: by purchasing a Windows Mobile smartphone! There were a couple of requirements for me, such as running on a GSM network as well as having wi-fi. And now T-Mobile, my carrier!, has released the Dash. Based on HTC’s S620, it features quad-band GSM radio, built-in wi-fi and the latest Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone OS.

Granted it doesn’t have a touchscreen, but most who received the unit for review claim it isn’t that hard to use. After all, no regular phone has touchscreen and we’ve all been fine with it.

Gizmodo says:

If you’re looking for a smartphone in a thin package and are willing to give up Pocket PC features like touch-screen and Office Mobile, you won’t go wrong with the Dash.

And Engadget says:

we feel pretty comfortable recommending this phone to anyone willing to put up with the inherent pains of Smartphone, with or without Tmo’s tweaks and myFaves calling service.

Since the Q won’t be available in GSM version for awhile, and Treo’s upgrade won’t hit Cingular or T-Mobile any time soon, I guess I found my choice to replace my aging D500!
