Consumer Reports Top 10 cars of 2007

Consumer Reports still remains one of the most reputable magazine for reviewing, well, virtually every consumer good. They just released their pick for Top 10 cars of this year (2007):

  • Fun To Drive: Mazda MX-5 Miata
  • Small SUV: Toyota RAV4
  • Small Sedan: Honda Civic
  • Family Sedan: Honda Accord
  • Minivan: Toyota Sienna
  • Luxury Sedan: Infiniti M45
  • Midsized SUV: Toyota Highlander Hybrid
  • Green Car: Toyota Prius
  • Upscale Sedan: Infiniti G35
  • Budget Car: Honda Fit
  • The list is dominated by Japanese manufacturers only, shutting out American, German and Korean automakers. Some may argue there is a bias against German and American cars, but their concern is not fun to drive: it is instead finding out the most reliable, the most bang-for-the-buck and the best user-friendly vehicles on the market. If you want a list based solely on performance and driving experiences, then expect to see a pro-German bias (especially concerning BMW vehicles) since most auto publications accept advertisements and sponsored test-drives.
