    Absolut sold to Pernod Ricard

Absolut is no longer Swedish (did you even know it was Swedish in the first place?) as the government of Sweden sold off the Vin & Spirit, the maker of Absolut, for 5.28 billion euros. Pernod Ricard is currently planning to keep making Absolut in Sweden in order to preserve its Swedishness.

As a result of this deal, Pernod Ricard will no longer act as distributor for a competing vodka brand Stolichnaya.

Pernod Ricard already owns Chivas Regal whisky, Kahlua coffee liquor, Malibu flavoured rum, Beefeater gin, Havana Club rum, Mumm champagne and Glenlivet scotch.
